Ovarian Cyst Management
Ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sacs that develop within or on the ovary and may occur in women of different age groups. Some ovarian cysts remain asymptomatic, while others may be associated with pelvic pain, abdominal discomfort, menstrual irregularities, pressure symptoms, or reproductive concerns.
Several types of ovarian cysts may be encountered in gynecological and reproductive medicine practice, including functional ovarian cysts, endometriomas, dermoid cysts, hemorrhagic cysts, and selected benign or complex ovarian lesions.
Functional ovarian cysts may develop during the normal ovulatory cycle and often resolve spontaneously without intervention. Women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) may demonstrate multiple small ovarian follicles associated with hormonal and ovulatory dysfunction requiring individualized reproductive and endocrine evaluation.
Endometriosis-related ovarian cysts (endometriomas or “chocolate cysts”) may be associated with pelvic pain, recurrent disease, adhesions, or fertility-related concerns in selected clinical situations.
Evaluation of ovarian cysts may involve pelvic examination, ultrasound assessment, reproductive imaging, laboratory investigations, and selected imaging studies depending on the clinical condition and cyst characteristics.
Management depends on factors including age, symptoms, cyst size, imaging findings, reproductive goals, and suspicion of underlying pathology. Treatment approaches may include observation, medical management, minimally invasive laparoscopic cyst surgery, fertility-preserving procedures, or additional gynecological evaluation depending on clinical indications.
Fertility preservation considerations and reproductive planning may form part of clinical counseling before selected ovarian surgical procedures in reproductive-age women.
Ovarian cyst management at Krishna IVF forms part of broader gynecological endoscopy, reproductive surgery, fertility evaluation, and individualized reproductive medicine workflows.
