Assisted Hatching of Embryos
Assisted hatching is an embryology laboratory technique in which the outer layer of the embryo, known as the zona pellucida, is thinned or opened using specialized laboratory methods, including laser-assisted techniques.
Assisted hatching may be considered in selected assisted reproductive treatment cycles as part of individualized embryology and treatment planning protocols. The procedure is performed during laboratory handling of embryos prior to embryo transfer.
Various biological and embryological factors, including maternal age, embryo characteristics, and previous treatment history, may be considered during clinical and embryology assessment when determining whether assisted hatching is appropriate in selected situations.
Laser-assisted hatching techniques are utilized within embryology laboratory workflows as part of assisted reproductive treatment protocols at Krishna IVF.
