My Reflections on the OGSSI VIVAADHAM Webinar: Finding Clarity in the ERA Debate
This evening, I had the privilege of participating as the expert panelist in the latest episode of the VIVAADHAM WEBINAR SERIES, hosted by The Obstetric & Gynaecological Society of Southern India (OGSSI). The topic, “Endometrial Receptivity Array in Recurrent Implantation Failure – Boon or Bane,” is one of the most clinically relevant and debated issues in our field today, and the session was a testament to the power of structured scientific discourse.

A High-Caliber Debate
I was thoroughly impressed by the quality of the presentations from my co-panelists.• Dr. Swetha M laid out a compelling and evidence-based argument for ERA as a ‘Boon,’ highlighting its potential utility in personalizing care for a challenging group of patients.
• In a well-structured counterpoint, Dr. Divyashree meticulously outlined the arguments for ERA as a ‘Bane,’focusing on the current gaps in high-level evidence, cost-effectiveness, and the need for clinical caution.
Both speakers presented their cases with exceptional clarity, creating a truly balanced and informative platform for discussion.
My Role as an Expert Synthesizer
Following their excellent presentations, my role was to synthesize the available evidence and offer a balanced clinical perspective. In my summary, I aimed to bridge the two viewpoints, suggesting that the utility of ERA is not a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no.’ Instead, our focus as clinicians should be on nuanced patient selection and shared decision-making, while we await more definitive data from ongoing research. It’s about finding the right tool for the right patient at the right time.
The Value of Scientific Discourse
Events like the VIVAADHAM series are vital for the medical community. They provide a crucial platform for respectful debate, critical thinking, and a collective push towards improving patient outcomes. The insightful questions from the large audience confirmed that there is a strong appetite for these nuanced discussions.
My sincere thanks to the entire OGSSI team for organizing this outstanding academic event. I extend my gratitude to the coordinators, Dr. Vijaya S and Dr. Karpagambal Sairam, for their excellent moderation, and to my co-panelists for their scholarly contributions. Finally, thank you to the hundreds of attendees whose engagement made for a truly interactive and memorable evening
