In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)

IVF is done for female factors like chronic an ovulation, tubal factor uterine factor, endometriosis, smaller ovarian reserves And male factors like decreased count and motility. Normally fertilization (Fusion of egg & sperm ) occurs in fallopian tubes. Embryo which results from fertilization enters into uterus and grows for 9 months. In IVF lady is given injections for growth of eggs.

After optimum size of follicle is achieved, eggs are removed transvaginally under general anesthesia. Husband gives to sample on same day. Sperms and eggs are fused in the laboratory. Day 3 embryo is transfer into the uterus. Two weeks from embryo transfer blood test (Serum HCG) is done to know the IVF outcome.
